Meet Ritual, using blockchain to push AI towards a more accessible future

November 8, 2023

Have you ever wondered who controls the internet? Most of the websites and apps we use every day are run by a few big companies that have a lot of power over our data, transactions, and interactions. They can decide how to use our information, change the rules of the system, or even censor us if they want to. This is not very fair, right?

Well, there is a new way of building the internet that aims to change that. It is called Web3, or the decentralized web. Web3 is based on technologies like blockchain, which allow people to create and share data without relying on a central authority. In Web3, we can control our own data, choose who we want to interact with, and have a say in how the projects we use are developed and run.

One of the most exciting aspects of Web3 is how it can work with artificial intelligence (AI), which is the ability of machines to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. AI can help us do amazing things, like creating realistic images, videos, or sounds, or analyzing large amounts of data. But AI can also be used for bad purposes, like spreading fake news, stealing identities, or manipulating people.

That is why Web3 and AI are a perfect match. Web3 can make AI more transparent, secure, and fair. By using Web3, we can verify that the AI models we use are doing what they claim to do, protect our privacy and data from hackers or misuse, and reward the people who contribute to the AI development. Web3 can also make AI more accessible and diverse, by allowing anyone to use, create, or improve AI models, regardless of their background or location.

One of the companies that is working on this vision is Ritual, a decentralized AI platform that came out of stealth mode recently. Ritual raised $25 million in a seed funding round led by Archetype, a venture capital firm that focuses on Web3 projects. Ritual plans to launch its platform in early 2024, and is looking for developers and users who want to join its community.

Ritual's platform will use advanced technologies like zero-knowledge proofs and Outline Processor Markup Language (OMPL) to ensure that the AI models on its platform are trustworthy, private, and efficient. Ritual will also offer a network of graphics processing units (GPUs), which are devices that can process images and videos faster than regular computers. Ritual's GPUs will enable anyone to use or create high-quality AI models, without having to buy expensive hardware or software.

Ritual's co-founder, Niraj Pant, said that Web3 and AI are the future of the internet, and that they can create a more open, universally accessible, and critical technology. He said that Ritual's goal is to empower people to use AI for good, and to democratize the AI creation and distribution.
